Stefan Nilsson, HFC’s founder and CEO, wears many hats. One of them is as long-serving chairman of SNS Tokyo, the Japanese chapter of Swedish think tank SNS – Centre for Business and Policy Studies. In 2016, SNS Tokyo celebrates its 30th anniversary. On 28th November, SNS marked the occasion with a special presentation and a dinner at the Swedish Embassy hosted by Swedish Ambassador Magnus Robach. Pär Nuder, former Swedish Finance Minister and current chairman of AP3, was the guest of honour.

Following successful Hedge Funds Club events in SIngapore and Hong Kong, on 16th June HFC finished off the first half of this year’s networking events with a special evening reception at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo’s Roppongi 1-chome district. The by invitation only event was well attended by hedge fund managers and investors. Guests were greeted by HFC board member HSH Prince Andreas von Liechtenstein and treated to drinks and Swedish food at an enjoyable evening in the embassy garden.

In 2015 HFC Advisory Group celebrates a decade of activities in the alternative investments industry. Our year of celebration is off to a good start. In the first quarter we have hosted fully-booked Hedge Funds Club networking events in Singapore and Hong Kong. This will be followed by our major Tokyo Hedge Funds Club event on 18th June. We also remain very active with our own investments and on the consulting side. At age ten, HFC is in good shape and having fun.

2014 has been a very good year for HFC Advisory Group across all our businesses. In alternative investments we worked on some great projects with some of the world’s best asset managers in hedge funds, private equity, commodities and real estate. In our private investment business both our liquid and illiquid alternative investment strategies performed very well. During the year we made some significant allocations in new investment areas. In natural resources the markets were very tough but we successfully worked on advancing a few development projects in coking coal and iron ore. On the event side of our business we hosted a series of great events for hedge fund managers and investors in Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong. In 2015 we are celebrating our 10-year anniversary and have some great things planned. We will continue building on all our existing businesses as well as launch some new initiatives.

Japanese investors increase hedge fund investments

42% of Japanese institutional investors plan to increase their allocations to hedge funds in the near term, according to a new investor survey. HFC Advisory interviewed a wide range of Japanese investors between May and August for the Hedge Funds Club Japan Investor Survey 2011. Other highlights from the survey included that Japanese pension funds keep increasing their allocations to hedge funds. Optimism seemed to be the theme of the night as over 250 of Singapore’s hedge fund managers and investors got together for a great evening of business and pleasure at the Tower Club on Thursday 8th September 2011. The by invitation only event was packed to the limit. The event saw small hedge fund start-ups and established big-time hedge fund managers mingle with investors. The event was generously sponsored by CME Group, NYSE Liffe, Ogier, Capital IQ, Portcullis TrustNet and Misys Sophis.
